Introduction
Richard Aldrich, Emeritus Professor of the History of Education
at the Institute of Education, University of London, is the
leading exponent of the application of historical perspectives
to current educational issues.
He has contributed some 15
books and 75 articles to the field, and has been presented with
two festschriften, Whitehead and O’Donoghue, eds, 2004 and Crook
and McCulloch, eds, 2007. Richard’s latest article, “Education
for survival: an historical perspective”, is now available on
iFirst and will be published in History of Education in 2009.
